The Messmate Eucalyptus Obliqua species is widespread in the southeastern parts of Australia and can hardily withstand severe frosts but not drought. This tree can grow to a massive 90m tall.
Our newly harvested Messmate timber has been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) to ensure it has been harvested responsibly. New Messmate is a sustainable timber choice and is an Australian-grown and milled timber.
New Messmate timber is a budget-friendly option for furniture making as newly harvested timbers require less work than recycled timbers at the timber yard.
Appearance of Messmate timber furniture
New Messmate timber furniture has similar natural features to recycled Messmate such as gum veins and sap lines but tends to have less tone variation. The timber colour ranges from cream to mid-brown with a yellow undertone.
